The Harlech Scholarship (for study at New College, Oxford)

The Harlech Scholars’ Trust commemorates the memory of the late Lord Harlech with the creation of an endowed scholarship between Harvard University and New College, Oxford, which is Lord Harlech’s alma mater. Alternating each year, the Harlech Scholarship is awarded to a Harvard student to attend New College and for a New College student to attend Harvard. For academic year 2018-2019, the Harlech Scholarship will be awarded to a Harvard student to attend New College, Oxford.

The Harlech Scholarship is open to Harvard College seniors who expect to graduate in May 2018, and who plan to enroll in a graduate degree program offered by New College, Oxford. Eligible candidates must apply for this fellowship in their senior year. The award is for one academic year and is not renewable. If a student wishes to pursue a multi-year degree program, the outer years of funding will be the financial responsibility of the student.

The scholarship covers tuition and fees for the course of study at New College as well as provides a stipend for living expenses. The stipend for the Harvard student at New College for the 2018-2019 academic year will be at least £14,276. In addition, the scholarship provides a subsidy towards the cost of air travel between Boston and the United Kingdom.

The application for academic year 2018-2019 is now closed. The deadline for academic year 2019-2020 will likely be sometime in October 2018. Please check back later for updates.
